Groups
Baby and Toddler Group
The Baby and Toddler Group meet in the Parish Room (next to the Co-op) on the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th Tuesdays of the month during school term time at 10-11:30am. A warm friendly atmosphere where the adults can ‘relax’ with a cup of tea and a biscuit, meet new friends while the children can play with the toys or do craft activities. Every morning ends with singing and a story time. All our leaders are DBS checked.
Children’s Activity Mornings
Seasonal Children's Activity Mornings for all the family to enjoy! Usually outdoors (weather permitting!) - churchyard trails /egg hunt at Easter, eco craft activities, story time, refreshments, something to take home to continue the fun. The Autumn Activity morning is on 5 October 10:30-12 noon.
Friday Morning Prayer Group
We meet in the Sunday School Room 9.30-10am and start with a few Bible verses as we come before God. We pray for the needs of individuals, our church, town, country and the world. No issue is too big or too small to bring before God. Everyone is welcome to join us, do not feel you have to pray out loud, but do feel free to add your Amen, as we bring our requests before our Heavenly Father who cares for each one of us.
Small Groups
Choir
The choir leads the weekly worship using a wide range of musical styles incorporating the best of the old and new. A choir practice takes place on Friday each week from 5.00pm-6.00pm
Church Flower Arrangers
The Crosthwaite flower arranging group strive to show that St. Kentigern's is much loved and well cared for. We provide a welcoming arrangement in the porch and ensure the chancel flowers depict the seasons and highlight the Church calendar. Our busiest times are Christmas, Easter and Harvest when we delight in enhancing our wonderful building to uplift these glorious celebrations. We are very conscious of being eco-friendly and make sure the materials we use aren't detrimental to our planet.
Crosthwaite Church Bell Ringers
Crosthwaite Church has a peal of eight bells in E major, the tenor weighing 12.25cwt.
We have an enthusiastic band of people of varying ages and abilities who gather on Sunday 9:45am-10:30am before the morning service, Wednesday 7pm-8:30pm for practice and at weddings and other special occasions.
At practices we learn that “you need to be strong” is not true, technique is the key as youngsters of 6 and 7 years old
can ring perfectly. New ringers and especially experienced ringers and visiting ringers are always welcome to join our band.
Mothers Union
Keswick Mother's Union welcomes members from all the local churches and meets at Keswick St Johns 2-3:30pm on the first and third Tuesdays October to March. Usually there will be a short service and a talk followed by tea and cake.
